« Lyonnais » language
All the « Guignol » shows are written and performed in the « Lyonnais » language.
The « Lyonnais » language is the dialect « Franco-Provençal » which originated in Lyon. Some words came from Gallic.

La Société des Amis de Lyon et de Guignol
strives to preserve the ancient « Lyonnaises » traditions.
Once a month, Gérard Truchet (President of the Société since 1986) and Jean-Baptiste Martin (Linguist), hold classes on the art of speaking the « Lyonnais » language.
